With this project we propose to examine the Roman expansion and subsequent acculturation as social processes and from a local perspective. We examine in detail the patterns of interaction between Roman imperialism and the indigenous population in two specific areas, each located at the ends of the Mediterranean: Catalonia and Israel, in order to look for tempos, rhythms and singularities. We apply an archaeozoological approach that allows us to investigate key aspects of the Roman economy and society, such as food habits, livestock practices or the animal trade.
