Dr Gustav A. Gamer, an expert in classical archaeology and professor emeritus of the University of TĂĽbingen, donated his library to the ICAC. The legacy, which reached the Institute on 16 December 2010, consists of 1,607 items. It comprises books, journals and 8,335 documents, including slides, photographs, sketches, negatives and transparencies.
Biography
Gustav A. Gamer (born Menzingen, Germany, 1934).
A recognised expert archaeologist in the classical world. Deeply knowledgeable on antiquity in the Mediterranean, he has undertaken an extremely important task of research at the headquarters of the German Archaeological Institute in Frankfurt, Athens and Madrid, and has excavated at different archaeological sites in Germany, Italy, Greece and Spain.
A professor at the universities of CĂłrdoba (Argentina), Freiburg, Stuttgart and TĂĽbingen, he is currently a member of the Real Academia Sevillana de Bellas Artes de Santa Isabel de HungrĂa.
His most outstanding work is Formen römischer Altäre auf der Hispanischen Halbinsel (1989).
