Brief CV

Konstantina Venieri graduated from the Department of History and Archaeology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece) with a specialization in Archaeology and Art History. From the same department she obtained a Master’s Degree in Classical Archaeology, with a thesis on the ‘The Koinon of the Oreioi: the evolution of human settlement of a remote region of South-western Crete during the historical period’. During her Masters she spent a semester as an Erasmus+ exchange student in the University of Cologne, Germany, where she got familiar with computational archaeology approaches for the first time.

She has participated in various research projects and archaeological excavations in Greece (ancient city of Epidaurus, ancient Halasarna on Kos island and several sites on Crete, covering various periods)

She joined ICAC in May 2021. She has won a three-year doctoral scholarship (FI grant to contract new research staff, FI 2021) granted by the Catalan Government.

She will develop her doctoral thesis, “Computational approaches to the long-term reconstruction of past Thessalian landscapes”, in the Landscape Archaeology (GIAP) research team, under the supervision of Dr Hèctor A. Orengo.
