Abstract:
This article studies two Roman sculptures, paying special attention to the circumstances of its discovery. Both are related to the iconography of Erotes or putti. Previously it had been considered that the origin of them was unknown and they were studied separately. However, its place of discovery is known thanks to a manuscript of Buenaventura Hernández Sanahuja. In includes the archaeological findings in October 1868 on the occasion of the demolition of “Baluarte de Cadenas” and deals with the two sculptures. This circumstance allows the study of both pieces, as well as some reflections about the original context of the sculptures and its functionality.
