El asentamiento militar de Puigpelat (Alt Camp, ager tarraconensis), un castellum tardorrepublicano en tierras tarraconenses
Abstract:
This article is based on the presentation given on the military settlement of Puigpelat at the “International seminary ICAC/URV: Castella et praesidia on the Mediterranean façade of Late Republican Hispania” held at the Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology on May 13, 2014. To the previously known and published data we have added the results derived from the application of 3D reconstruction techniques, which have helped us refine the interpretation of the castellum. Thus, at what would have been the entrance gate, which we initially thought had been flanked by two towers, there would probably have been one tower located on the fortification’s axis. In addition, the application of a 3D perspective to the planimetry improves our understanding of the defensive system of the castellum.
