Abstract:

Tirant lo Blancand the Ancient Greek novel are separated by time, culture and language. Despite this distance, there can be underlined several manifest parallelisms regarding love and involving characters and scenes. Focus is placed on scenes where the heroes of Tirantand Leucippe and Cleitophon fall in love and also on the development of their love stories. Afterwards, the characters of the Empress and the “Viuda Reposada” in Tirant –as rivals in each love triangle– are compared to the adulteresses in Aithiopikaand Leucippe and Cleitophon, all of them constructed according to the type of character depicted by Phaedra.
