Joan Sanmartí i la recerca sobre la Protohistòria de les Terres de l’Ebre
Abstract:
The protohistory of Terres de l’Ebre, in ancient Ilercavonia, is one of the areas on which Joan Sanmartí Grego focused his research. From the University of Barcelona and leading a large research group, he conducted a long-term project, with more than 30 years of research in the region at the time of his death. Over these years, the project has included various themes, from settlement patterns and their diachronic evolution to economic and social organisation models and funerary rites. This body of work has made an important contribution to our understanding of the formation and development of protohistoric societies, focusing on the transition from local groups of the Late Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age to the complex, urban societies of the Late Iron Age.
