Abstract:

In 2010 the works were centred in the elaboration of the final report of the excavations of the Ariadna’s House and its surroundings and in geo-radar pros pections in the macellum. After we have studied and ordered the results of the previous campaigns (2004-2009), we have reconstructed the evolution of the house and its topographic surroundings. We have distinguished four phases which we studied differen tially: archaic (6-5th c. BC), samnita (4-2nd BC), late samnita (120-80 BC), colonial (80-30 BC), augustan (30 BC-14 AD), Julio-Claudia (15-62 AD) and the end (62-79 AD). The structure of the Ariadna house, with its three great courts, was constructed in the late lind century B.C. Later, the building experienced several reforms, specially with the decorations of walls and pave ments and the opening or closing of doors’ bays. The main modifications were the construction of a great Peristyle in the northern court in the beginnings of Augusto, the conversion of the North and South in individual productive zones, lanificaria areas the first and of perfumes the second, and their transformation in a house after the 62 AD earthquake. The eruption of the 79 AD avoided that the decoration works were finished, although already the stays around Peristyle central and one of the atrium had been decorated with luxurious paintings of Fourth style.
