Abstract:
This article studies the different kinds of fine ware (Italic, Suthgalic, Hispanic and African sigillata) as well as lamps belonging to the Roman period found in 1990. They were in a big imperial rubbish dump in the outskirts of the city. Towards the end of the II century, this dump filled to the edge the natural depression which was to be found in this area. A massive joint of his- panic sigillata , which was quite abundant in this dumper, is studied. Nevertheless, it is another kind of material (such as African sigillata and anphoras) the one that gives chronological accuracy. This research contributes interesting information about the trade, the material culture and the Roman society in Valentia.
