Abstract:
This article studies the characteristics and evollution of urban and suburban houses of the city of Tarraco during the laterepublican times and the first centuries of our era. The domestic architecture of Tarraco has an earlier start than the rest of the Roman citties founden in Catalan territory, which des-pite the scarcity of data, it allows a close look at some of the earliest domestic structures in the Northeast of Tarragona. This beginning and evolution of houses throughout time, enables the visualization of how the houses of Tarraco are inserted into the trends of this architecture in the Roman world. It is perhaps from second century AD, as shown in this article, that some of the noble houses developed some local features.
