Abstract:
This introductory chapter intends to review the state of general knowledge we currently have about the amphorae produced in Hispania in Roman times. A historiographical introduction of the subject is carried out, as well as a general view of the problematic of the different productive areas, highlighting the salting amphorae of the coast of Baetica, the amphorae for oil of the Guadalquivir valley and the amphorae for wine of the eastern coasts of Hispania Citerior, in addition to other areas, such as the Lusitania. The purpose of this work is to make a contextual introduction for a better understanding of the rest of the contributions that make up this volume.
