Abstract:

This study analyses the measuring units used in the Phocaean colonies of Massalia, Elea and Emporion and compares them with those present at the archaic city of Phocaea. Metrological analyses suggest a common development for both Phocaean metrology and the geometric systems in use by these settlements.
