Abstract:

In 2014 the excavations at the fortified settlement of Coll del Moro de Gandesa have been restarted, within the framework of a University of Barcelona project entitled: “The first millennium b.c. in the territories of the lower Ebro river: formation, development and dissolution of the Iberian culture”. These excavations have uncovered an exceptional wine press dating from the 3rd century b.c. This evidence of wine production, together with that of the already known “linen workshop”, points to a segregated craft neighbourhood. As regards the chronology, we are able to assert that all the buildings in the excavated area were still occupied during the Late Iberian period (2nd-1st b.c.), in addition to those attached to the great monumental tower.
