Nuevas evidencias sobre la fábrica de San Pedro de Arlanza (Hortigüela, Burgos) a partir del estudio del subsuelo mediante prospección con georradar
Abstract:
This paper introduces, examines and interprets the outcomes of the geophysical survey conducted using a multi-channel ground-penetrating radar (GPR) at the monastic complex of San Pedro de Arlanza (Hortigüela, Burgos). The monastery has undergone various archaeological interventions since the 1980s, all associated with architectural restoration activities. Sequentially, these archaeological interventions are compiled and presented in this document, indicating their respective locations and main results. Expanding on this information, and with the support of documentary and bibliographical sources, the GPR-generated models are interpreted to provide new insights into the monastery’s construction, the diverse building phases of its fortified enclosure, the hydraulic system for water collection and drainage and the evolution of its cloisters.
