Abstract:
The aim of this article is to present a new Latin inscription from the city of Dertosa (Tortosa, Tarragona). The preserved media has a shape like a parallelepiped block, which may correspond to the central part of a tripartite pedestal, although the piece has been cut on all sides because of its reuse. The text documents a female character from the gens Aemilia, which is the only inscription known to date in which a woman receives an honorific pedestal in this city. The article presents a formal analysis of the epigraphic support, prosopographical study of the characters, as well as a volumetric restitution hypothesis.
