L’edificio ottagonale tardoantico della villa della Gran Via-Can Ferrerons (Premià de Mar – Barcelona)
Abstract:
Since the latest excavations carried out on the octagonal building of Can Ferrerons have been concluded, we present the building’s complete floor plan. It can be seen that this is an independent section of the Gran Via-Can Ferrerons villa. It comprises four large rectangular rooms distributed in the form of a cross within an octagon, opening onto a central octagonal room. One of these four rooms serves as an entrance lobby, with a large door towards the south-east that connects with the exterior. A kitchen has been documented next to this. Some small baths occupy the space to the west. This is quite a distinctive building with a number of features that suggest it was used as a reception area and dining room within a large, 5th century noble villa.
